Last night, 30th September, I asked a question at Worcester City Council full public meeting as to why the results of the consultation re the Diglis Fields Improvement Project had not been published. I know many people are interested in the results and a number of us spent a great deal of time encouraging wide community participation in this. The Cabinet Member for Cleaner and Greener, after a somewhat lengthy response, finally said that it was OK for me to 'share the data'.
146 people completed the survey which is good. The results have been analysed to give an overall satisfaction rating for each of the proposed improvement options. The most popular (93% satisfaction) was 'areas identified as wildflower meadows & for additional trees'. This was closely followed by 'proposed circular walks on the nature reserve' (92.2% satisfaction). The only concept which had less than majority support was 'proposed car park allocation along Waverly St' which only had a 44.9 satisfaction rating with, 37 people saying they were very dissatisfied with the idea.
There is not space on here for me to type up the full data. I presume the City Council will share the results at some point. I believe that a proposal for the next stage of the Diglis Fields Improvement may be considered by Cabinet on 28th October.
I also took the opportunity to ask the Cabinet Member last night if there was any truth in the rumour that had been posted on diglis.com about the current Conservative administration 'doing a deal' to impose their own priorities for the project. He said that there had been no such deal.
